Black Label Society are known for being loud -- very loud -- but with their new ‘Unblackened’ DVD and CD, they show off their more melodic side while still keeping their thunderous sound. Even though 'Unblackened' isn't due until Sept. 24, frontman Zakk Wylde gave a select few a preview of the new discs at the Collective School of Music in New York City.

The event started with listening to a couple tracks off of the CD, including one where Wylde does a bluesy and gritty rendition of Bill Withers' ‘Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone.’ The two audio discs of music are a must in any Black Label Society fanatic’s collection.

Watching the first five tracks on the ‘Unblackened’ DVD gives a feel of not only the intensity of seeing Black Label Society live, but it gets up close and personal with intimate angles of the group onstage and shots of their die-hard fans in the crowd. After the viewing ended the funny frontman himself shouted, “I want my money back!”

Wylde also took a series of questions and although some of his answers were sincere, he had the privileged group of media metal heads laughing from beginning to end with his witty and sharp responses. Wylde also shared that after his Gigantour dates with Megadeth are finished, the band will begin to work on a brand new album. “I’ll start writing now and probably in the middle of September," says Wylde. "We’ll be at the Black Label Vatican starting to record the next album.”

He goes on to say, “Once you get in there and you get inspired, you start writing like crazy. Right now I got a whole ton of riffs and ideas for the next album.”

Just hearing and seeing footage of the musicianship that all of the members of Black Label Society possess, shown on ‘Unblackened,’ will make you want to see them live. Click here for a list of remaining Gigantour dates.
