The Black Sheep Barber Company in Grand Blanc is officially open for business. The shop is owned by Kyle Mouser of Grand Blanc and Mark Silvernale of Davison.

I had the privilege of speaking with Kyle about the new barbershop. Here is everything you need to know about The Black Sheep Barber Company.

I love the name of your business, what is the meaning behind The Black Sheep Barber Company?

The meaning of the name is we’re trying to bring a unique experience to a traditional barbershop with a cut that stands out for all the right reasons.

What is unique about The Black Sheep Barber Company?

The barbers are what is unique about The BlackSheep Barber Company. We take pride in offering a personal and professional experience to everyone who walks through our door. I like to use my life experience from living all around the world to relate and connect with clients.

How many barbers do you have on staff at The Black Sheep Barber Company?

Right now, two - myself and Mark Silvernale. Mark and I have been friends since the third grade. We grew up playing sports together and have been close for a long time. We just saw an opportunity to bring our own style barber shop to the area and took it.

I also served 9 years in the army where I did a deployment to Afghanistan, and lived in Kansas, Arizona, Germany, and Washington state. I moved home in 2020 and bought a house in Grand Blanc.

We are both well-rounded barbers. Mark is great with short to mid-length haircuts using shears. I am confident in my ability with fade haircuts.

Where did you both go to barber school?

I went to barber school at Lansing Barber College and Mark went to the Flint Institute of Barbering. Mark also earned a Business degree from Northwood University.

Are walk-ins welcome, or should people make appointments?

Walk-ins are more than welcome. We have the appointment app available as well for people who have a busy schedule or don’t want to risk waiting. Appointments are a guarantee but we’ll never turn away a walk-in.

Tuesday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Wednesday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Thursday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Saturday: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
