Burton Kroger Becomes Scene Of Heroic Escape From Alleged Kidnapper
Update: May 1st, 2025 at 3:25 PM:
The Burton Police posted the following about the incident earlier today.
We are relieved that the incident was not as serious as initially reported and that the young woman involved is safe.
Breaking news out of Burton, Michigan.
Although details remain unclear, I was told by a source that a young woman escaped a kidnapper by seeking refuge in the Kroger store on Bristol Road.
The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 a.m. today, Thursday, May 1st, 2025.
A man is currently in custody; however, no details about him or the victim have been released at this time.
As you can imagine, there was a large police presence at the store. When I arrived at Kroger, only a few officers were still present, and a reddish-burgundy Grand Prix with an MSU Sparty bumper sticker was being towed from the scene.
My gut instinct is that the Grand Prix was the vehicle being driven by the alleged kidnapper. Once I can confirm that, I will include a photo in this post.
Two things I’m still looking into are whether the man was attempting to kidnap the young woman from the Kroger parking lot or if she was already being held captive and managed to escape into the store.
The good news is, the brave and quick-thinking young woman is safe now.
I will update this article with more information as it becomes available.
