On Saturday, an accident during some routine maintenance and safety check send a carnival worker to the hospital with serious injuries.

It all happened around 10:30 am when an employee of the Skerbeck Family Carnival was inspecting the Fireball ride. The 22-year-old man somehow slipped and was injured by the ride. Emergency personnel were able to act quickly and get him to the hospital.

After being taken to Hurley Medical Center in Flint, the carnival employee was treated for his injuries. Unfortunately, medical staff at Hurley had to amputate one of the man's legs due to the injuries.

The Fireball ride is a large circular ride where riders are strapped into train carts and inverted upside down during the ride. It has always been a fan favorite. My friends and I loved to ride it when we were kids and even the kids today that I know really enjoy it.
