Michigan Man Charged in Chainsaw Road Rage Threat
A Southwest Michigan man is facing several charges after being charged in a road rage incident involving a physical altercation and a chainsaw.
Yes, a chainsaw.
The incident occurred on Saturday, October 5th, 2025, in Waverly Township, when the unidentified female victim pulled out of her driveway in front of 68-year-old Leonard Yonkman. According to The Bellingham Herald, this threw Yonknman into a fit of rage.
The man from Paw Paw became so enraged that he reportedly sped past the victim's vehicle and intentionally cut her off, forcing her off the road. But the incident didn’t end there.
Chaos ensued as the woman was eventually able to catch up to Lenonard Yonkman and confront him. Yonkman reportedly snatched a chainsaw from his truck, and luckily, he was unable to start it.
Yonkman allegedly grabbed a woman's cellphone and smashed it on the ground before punching her in the stomach.
The assailant then left the scene, but not before an eyewitness was able to snap a picture of his license plate. He was eventually arrested.
I don't think you can drive in Michigan, or anywhere, really, without encountering some form of road rage. That said, most people, as difficult as it may be, choose to let it go.
You never know what type of person you are dealing with, and this incident is proof of that.
WMMT News Channel 3 reports that Leonard Yonkman is facing multiple charges, including assault with intent to cause serious bodily harm, less than murder, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
