Detroit’s Eminem Named Co-Producer On ‘Stans’ Documentary About Superfans
Detroit's own Eminem has been named co-producer on an upcoming documentary about superfans called 'Stans'.
The term Stan is derived from an Eminem song with the same title about a superfan named Stanley 'Stan' Mitchell. The meaning of the word Stan, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is as follows,
To exhibit fandom to an extreme or excessive degree: to be an extremely devoted and enthusiastic fan of someone or something.
According to Variety, the upcoming documentary will be directed by Steven Leckart and co-produced by Eminem and Slim Shady Films.
The film will take a deep dive into the lives of Eminem superfans as told by Eminem himself. The film is described as edgy, and very personal. Shady Films’ Paul Rosenberg and Stuart had this to add,
This is a study of the relationship between fanbase and artist through the lens of one of Eminem’s most fascinating songs and one of the world’s most important entertainers.
As of now, 'Stans' is the working title of the project. Upon completion, the documentary will be released via Paramount/MTV later this year (2024).
This will be a must-see documentary. We will keep you updated with any new information about the film, and when an official release date is announced.
