We've shared some unique homes over the years, but honestly, nothing quite like what we're about to show you.

Coming straight out of Kalamazoo, this is easily one of the weirdest and coolest homes I’ve ever seen in Michigan—and it’s up for sale right now for $1.9 million.

It’s a giant dome house tucked away on five wooded acres, and I’m not even sure if “house” is the right word. It looks like a bunch of space pods landed in the forest, and someone just decided to live in them. When we colonize Mars, this is what I expect the housing to look like. Technically, it’s what’s called a monolithic dome, which basically means the whole thing was built as one giant, solid structure instead of using wood or bricks.

With over 6,300 square feet of living space, this wild-looking home might seem like it’s from the future, but it was actually built back in the ‘70s.

Inside, it’s just as strange and awesome as the outside. There are three bedrooms and four bathrooms, but honestly, it’s the wide open layout and those massive ceilings that make it feel so weirdly spacious and awesome. There’s even a central vacuum system.

I’ll be honest, I had to look up a central vacuum system. I had no idea what that was. Basically, instead of lugging a vacuum around, you just plug a hose into wall ports and it sucks dirt through pipes to one big bin. No bags, no lugging, just empty the bin now and then. Fancy, extra, and totally space-dome vibes.

Whether you think it’s bizarre or brilliant, one thing’s for sure: this Kalamazoo dome home is unlike anything else you’ll find in Michigan.

Abandoned 1949 Mammoth Department Store in Detroit

Built in 1949, the Mammoth building started as the Federal Department Store, a vital part of the community. Over the years, different owners like Kingsway Department Stores and Mammoth Department Store shaped its history.

The doors officially closed in 2001 and it's been empty ever since.
