There are some stories you hear about that you just hope aren’t true, but this one is. A drunk driver was caught going the wrong way on I-75 with two little kids in the car. This is one that's sure to make your blood boil.

A 35-year-old Redford man is lucky nobody ended up dead after police caught him driving the wrong way on I-75 in Troy with two little kids in the car.

It happened just before 11 p.m. on November 1 near Crooks Road. According to Fox 2 Detroit, officers got a call about a GMC Terrain heading north in the southbound lanes. When they stopped it, the smell of booze hit them right away. The guy’s eyes were bloodshot, and there was an empty beer can sitting in the center console.

There was also a woman in the passenger seat, along with two little kids, just 2 and 5 years old. Seriously, two kids strapped in while he’s going the wrong way on the freeway, crushing beers. That is the most irresponsible, dangerous, and just plain pathetic thing you can do as a parent.

Police hauled him to the Troy lockup, where he failed his field sobriety tests and blew a .12 and .118 on the breath test. For reference, Michigan’s legal limit is .08. Yeah, he was wasted. He’s now facing charges for operating while intoxicated with kids in the car, which counts as child endangerment, plus having open intoxicants in a vehicle.

It’s unclear what kind of shape the woman was in, though she wasn’t charged. The driver, however, is due in court for arraignment on November 19. Hopefully, this guy never gets behind the wheel drunk again, especially with kids in the car.
