What’s Open and Closed on Easter in Michigan This Year

If you’ve ever waited until the last minute to grab something for Easter…you already know how this goes.

You pull into the parking lot, walk up to the doors, and yep…locked.

Easter is this Sunday, and while it’s not a federal holiday, a lot of major retailers still shut down for the day. So plan ahead. You’ll probably still find what you need…just maybe not at your usual go-to.

Which Stores Are Closed on Easter in Michigan?

There are actually quite a few big names that won’t be open at all.

Stores like Target, Costco, Sam’s Club, Aldi, Kohl’s, Macy’s, JCPenney, and Best Buy are all expected to be closed. Same goes for TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby, and Apple stores (most).

Most of those aren’t a big deal for one day…unless you were planning a Costco or Sam’s run. If that’s the case, better knock it out on Saturday.

What Stores in Michigan Are Open on Easter?

Now the good news…you’re not completely out of luck.

Most grocery stores and convenience stores usually stay open, just with shorter hours.

Places like Meijer, Kroger, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Dollar General, and 7-Eleven are typically open on Easter. So if you forget something big, like dinner rolls (I’m so guilty of that), or something small like batteries, you should still be able to find it.

Are Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Menards Open on Easter?

We get it…not everyone celebrates Easter. You might be spending the day tackling stuff around the house or yard. If that’s the case, you’re probably wondering about Home Depot and Lowe’s.

Home Depot and Menards will be open on Easter, but Lowe’s will be closed. So if you’ve got projects planned, you’re still in luck…just maybe not your usual go-to.
