You may think you know Flint inside and out, but until you've kayaked your way down the Flint River, you haven't seen it all.

My birthday was this past weekend, and my family got me a really cool present. They reserved a kayaking trip down the Flint river through Kayak Flint. This is something I've wanted to do for a while, but I had no idea how cool it would be. I thought it would be a standard river float, you know . . . where it seems like a great idea to begin with, but 4 hours later you're hating everything and everyone. Luckily I could not have been more wrong. Kayaking the Flint River is a five star experience in my book.

The trip started at Tenacity in downtown Flint, which is a good start to any trip in my book. After we filled out the waivers, we grabbed our Kayak's and headed down to the river bank.

This might sound dumb, but getting into the river was the most difficult part of the entire experience (and it was not that difficult). I just want to make sure to say that I am not an avid kayaker, and we were all a little nervous about just jumping right in. With some help from the Kayak Flint workers, we were loaded in and floating away.

Over the next couple of hours we got to see Flint from a perspective that was completely new to all of us. Seeing how nature and urban development have melded into one extremely unique experience.

Check out the pictures below and you'll see exactly what I am talking about. The cement embankment part of the river quickly transitions into tree lined banks without missing a beat. I would recommend this trip to anyone, and can't say thank you enough to my family for giving it to me for my birthday!

Kayak Flint Gives You A New View of the Flint River

My family took me kayaking on the Flint River for my birthday this year, and it was one of the coolest experiences I've had. Seeing the Flint river, and the city from a kayak really gives you a different perspective on something we see everyday. Check out Kayak Flint if you want to experience it for yourself.
