Flint Schools Have No Date To Return To In Person Learning Right Now
The Flint Community Schools Superintendent released a letter this week announcing that the district has no set date to return to in person learning right now.
The news came as a shock to most parents in the district considering Flint Schools were supposed to be back in person on February 22nd. School officials announced only a few days before the scheduled start that they would have to push the start date back again. The reason they gave had to do with sneeze guards, and an overabundance of caution for the safety of kids and faculty.

Parents were not thrilled with the delay, especially since it was only a few days before kids were scheduled to return. This left many families in a bind, trying to figure out what to do about child care now that their kids would continue learning from home.
So you can imagine how upset many parents were when they saw the Instagram post from the Flint Community Schools below.
The letter from Superintendent Steward talks about the sneeze guards being at the center of the delay again. In the letter to parents Steward reassured parents that they are working around the clock to correct the problem.
I am writing to inform you that we are working around the clock to resolve the issue related to our sneeze guards, which prevented the return to hybrid learning this week. We do not yet have a scheduled date for returning to in-person learning. However, we will keep the community informed and will announce a new date for the return as soon as possible
Steward also directed parents with questions to refer to the schools Safe Return & Recovery Plan for any questions.
This is a tough situation for everyone involved. The safety of the kids and staff is by far the most important thing, but parents are getting stretched thin by the situation. Planning for at home learning while working a full time job can be next to impossible. I hope that Flint Schools are able to find a resolution soon that will keep everyone safe, and give some relief to overstressed families.
