Some public school systems are rougher than others in Michigan when it comes to expulsions. Flint Public Schools have the fifth highest rate for expelled students in the state when it comes to the 2016-2017 school year. 

In the Flint Public School system, 27 students were expelled for a number of different reasons. Nine students were actually expelled for reasons related to weapons in the school district. The only other school with a higher number of weapons-related expulsions is Utica Community Schools with 12.

Overall, 1,238 kids were expelled during the school year in Michigan.
