It's been the question on the minds of parents and children alike since the hiatus began. Since the closure of all K-12 schools back on March 16th and now with the active  shelter in place order, many are questioning if and when the schools will reopen.

In a early morning interview today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer indicated the answer is ..."Very unlikely." When questioned on the possibility of schools reopening to finish the year, the governor said, "We are working diligently to come up with a plan to meet the needs of our kids. Anyone who's watching globally what's happening with this pandemic probably knows it's not going to be this year."

School officials have been pressuring Whitmer for answers. They sent a letter to the Governor and the Legislature asking the state to provide some certainty to parents, school staff, and students. Everyone wants to be able to plan ahead for an extended school year or the possibility of forgiveness for time missed already.

Whtimer added in her interview that the state is working on a plan for schools and students living in quarantine under the coronavirus outbreak. She noted that the new plan will be announced soon.
