Just when we thought we might be out of the woods, COVID-19 is still ravaging mid-Michigan. I feel like I know more people with COVID right now than I did when we had to go into lockdown! If you haven't heard, tomorrow, September 1st, 2022 is the last day that the government will mail free COVID-19 tests to your residence. All homes throughout the United States are eligible for this third round of free tests from the government. All you need is a residential address.

This package includes 8 free COVID at-home tests for your entire family. You can stock them up and save them for anytime they're needed. If you haven't claimed yours yet, get them here before the service is discontinued on Friday, September 2nd.

If you're wondering why they discontinued this program, they explain on their site that ultimately Congress did not vote to allocate additional funding to provide more tests.

What If I Still Need Tests?

No problem! There are still many places to find them at no cost. There's nothing worse than paying more than $20 for something that you can find for free. Especially when it's a necessity that can affect your family's health. Walgreens is offering at-home tests at no cost in participating stores. For us here in Genesee County, we've found several Walgreens nearby that offer them, from Grand Blanc to Flint and beyond. Check here!

And if those all sell out, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has a testing location at Michigan NTS in Flint on W Atherton Road. They offer rapid tests and PCR tests. Book an appointment here.

Stay safe out there, folks!
