What started as a love of tequila has turned into a new business venture for two Mid-Michigan men, Brandon and Josh.

The two launched Spirit of the Great Lakes Tequila after spending more than 18 months developing the brand, securing licenses, and bringing their vision to life. Today, their Blanco and Reposado tequilas, produced in Mexico, are available for purchase online and shipped directly to customers.

According to Brandon and Josh, the idea for Spirit of the Great Lakes Tequila came from a shared appreciation for high-quality tequila.

Josh and Brandon have been tequila enthusiasts for years, always on the hunt for some of the best bottles around. When they met their distiller, sampled products, and learned more about the traditional process behind it, they knew they had something worth building on.

What stood out to us was doing things the right way. No shortcuts, no rushing it - just traditional methods and real attention to detail.

That experience led them to start thinking about how they could share the same appreciation for quality tequila with others across the Great Lakes region.

Turning that idea into reality did not happen overnight. It took more than a year and a half to get Spirit of the Great Lakes Tequila off the ground.

That included securing tequila and barrels, obtaining licenses and permits, building the brand, designing bottles and labels, and developing the company website.

Today, the brand is sold exclusively online and shipped directly to customers.

Both the Blanco and Reposado are available through the company’s website, along with branded merchandise like shirts and hats.

They also offer flat-rate shipping on tequila orders, whether you buy one bottle or six. Merchandise ships free.

Great Lakes Tequila is additive-free, with no added sugars, coloring, or flavoring agents, and is gluten-free, made exclusively from 100% blue agave.

Spirit of the Great Lakes Tequila is already starting to stretch beyond Michigan. The company was recently invited to Chicago for a tequila tasting event, introducing the brand to a new audience of tequila enthusiasts.

I can say from firsthand experience - this tequila is the real deal. Hey, I can't write about something I haven't tried, right? It's called research.

Bars, restaurants, and other establishments interested in hosting a Spirit of the Great Lakes Tequila tasting can reach out at greatlakestequila@gmail.com for more information.

Congrats to Josh, Brandon, and the team behind Great Lakes Tequila, you have truly outdone yourselves. Cheers!
