I have seen a zillion store "mascot" costumes.  From the Statue of Liberty at tax time to a person dressed as a cigarette at Roll N' Save tobacco, businesses will throw a person in a costume to bring in people.  It works in most cases.  This instance, not so much.

CNBC is reporting that The Ice Cream Family Corner & Sandwiches restaurant in Florida is catching a lot of heat for an ice cream costume that reportedly resembles a KKK uniform.  The owners claim the costume was found in a closet and thought it would be a fun way to drive business in.   That did not happen.  Business actually went down when potential customers thought the cone costume looked like a KKK hood.  You can clearly see this clown is a cone!

I myself have no tolerance for racism and would not think this was funny if indeed the costume looked like a klan member.  It does not.  The owners claim they are from Puerto Rico and have never even heard of the KKK until now.  Nonetheless, the costume has been retired.  No word on a new costume but I am guessing it will NOT be a chocolate or vanilla sundae.  Just make it a simple strawberry!
