Grand Rapids Makes Midwest Living’s Best Cities List – Again
More national love for Grand Rapids!

The city has once again landed on Midwest Living’s Best Midwest Cities list for 2026, putting it alongside some of the region’s most buzzworthy destinations. Only nine cities made the cut, and just one other Michigan city earned a spot on the elite list: Detroit.
Unlike rankings that rely heavily on data or public voting, Midwest Living’s awards are hand-picked by editors who actually travel, explore, and experience these places firsthand. They consider everything from food and culture to visitor experiences and recent growth, and Grand Rapids checks all the boxes!

If you’ve spent any time here, that probably tracks. This city has evolved into a true destination. The craft beer scene alone continues to draw attention, especially after Grand Rapids was recently named Beer City USA for the sixth year in a row. Add in an outstanding food scene, excellent attractions, and a steady stream of new development, and it's easy to see why people keep taking notice.

Midwest Living specifically highlighted staples like ArtPrize and the always-stunning Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, plus upcoming additions like the Acrisure Amphitheater, which is expected to bring even more big-name concerts to the riverfront.
Local leaders are leaning into that momentum. “We’re honored that Midwest Living’s editors selected Grand Rapids for this recognition,” said Experience Grand Rapids CEO Doug Small, pointing to the city’s mix of “innovative restaurants and breweries” and “world-class art and cultural experiences.”
