Davison drivers have had plenty of construction over the course of 2023.

One of those projects isn't done, yet. But is finished for the season.

Irish Road construction in Davison, MI

Construction started in September on Irish Road from Court Street to Lapeer Road in Davison. Genesee County Road Commission has been conducting a rehabilitation of the roadway.

GCRC Communications Coordinator, Kylie Dontje, told us what the project, which will pick up again in the spring, includes:

  • parts of the concrete area will be replaced, other portions repaired.
  • sidewalk ramps
  • guardrail
  • lowering of the roadway under I-69 bridges to make it easier for trucks since it's an all-season route.
  • pavement markings

The good news is one side is now complete. The other will be rehabbed in Spring of 2024.

If only their time-lapse video was how quickly construction moved for us.

Next year, drivers can expect Irish Road to be limited in a similar way.

Genesee County Road Commission will maintain two-way traffic during construction.

That's a great thing because the area around Irish & Lapeer Roads has grown so much over the last several years.

There's even more traffic now with the new Hamlin Pub finally open.

The project received $1.7 million in federal funds while GCRC is paying $450,000.

There was other good news announced that same day -- the Genesee Road bridge in Genesee Township is finally reopened, too.

That project had traffic detoured since the spring.
