Located in the Upper Peninsula, Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort is a winter lover's dream.

"Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort is tucked away in the Gogebic Range of Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula. Your escape to the Northwoods begins with 17 feet of average natural snowfall, renowned grooming, family friendly specials, and a down-home staff who treats you like family."

Due to the Lake Superior lake-effect snow, they get natural snow that allows skiers and snowboarders to keep coming back. However, this season, the team was hit with an issue.

On December 27th, Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort announced on its social media accounts that it would be closed until December 28th at the earliest.

The temporary closure was only supposed to be in effect for December 24th and 25th, because of fifty-degree weather and immense rain. According to Powder.com,

"This closure was slated to lift on December 26th, but the ski resort continued to push back its reopening date as the warm weather persisted. Currently, the planned reopening date is December 28th, weather and conditions permitting."

However, the ski resort is officially open!

While they are open for business, the company is still urging customers to understand that they have very limited terrain. But, the hill operations crew is hard at work to keep everyone happy.

So, if you have been wanting to take a trip up north for a snowy vacation, you are in luck!
