Enter the Forbidden Kingdom of Jackie Chan Facts
You know Jackie Chan, the star of many classic martial-arts films and the upcoming thriller The Foreigner. But did you know that Jackie Chan is also a classically trained opera singer? In fact, Chan has released 11 studio albums and 9 compilation albums over a period of decades. When he provided the voice for Shang in the Chinese release of Mulan, he also sang all the character’s songs. That’s just one of the facts featured in the latest installment of You Think You Know Movies!
Chan was discovered at a young age, and groomed as a potential successor to Bruce Lee, who had passed away in 1973. He is famous for performing all of his own stunts, and while he has suffered numerous injuries through the years, the most serious one was on a relatively routine scene in Armour of God. Jackie was supposed to jump from a wall to a tree, missed, and fell only five meters, but he banged his head on a rock in the process, sending a piece of his skull into his brain. Surgery saved Chan’s life, but he now has a permanent hole in his head filled with plastic. Ouch.
