Lapeer High School Returns to All Remote Learning After Outbreak
Students at Lapeer High School are now back to remote learning starting today.
As of today, all of the students at Lapeer High School will be learning from home for the next two weeks. In the last two weeks, the high school has reported 18 new cases of COVID-19. The new cases resulted in more than 200 students and staff having to quarantine. Because of this, the school is having difficulty keeping the building adequately staffed.
The District has made the decision to return to our remote learning plan for students in grades 10-12. This period of remote instruction will be for two weeks, from February 3 through February 16. Our plan is to return to face-to-face instruction on February 17. We will evaluate the status of our return consistently during this period...said Lapeer Community Schools Superintendent Matt Wandrie in a letter to the parents.
For those with kids that attend Lapeer High School, here is the remote learning schedule.
- 7:30 am - First Hour
- 8:30 am - Second Hour
- 10:00 am - Third Hour
- 11:00 am - Lunch
- 11:30 am - Fourth Hour
- 12:30 pm - Fifth Hour
- 1:30 pm - Sixth Hour
During the remote learning period, the custodial staff will do a full-scale deep clean of the building and traditional after-school activities will be suspended with the exception of athletics. All athletic teams that are currently practicing or competing will continue and follow the existing health and safety guideline.
The high school will also remain open for support services including special education services. Food will also be available for students and pick-ups of that food will be that same as it was during the remote learning period in the fall.
