Linden Girl Creates ‘Snuggle Sacks’ Charity For Area Homeless
So yesterday I was boo-hooing about a break-up, and then I met Addy Goss. My problems are nothing compared to what area homeless people face daily. Addy is an 8-year-old student at Linden Elemntary and she is the brainchild of 'Snuggle Sacks - Survival Kits for the Homeless'.
The idea came to Addy after reconnecting with her estranged grandfather. Come to find out, he had been homeless for six of the last ten years. That is hard enough for any of us to imagine, let alone a little girl. That is when the idea of 'Snuggle Sacks' was born. Addy along with her brothers, pack the up the bags and hand them out in conjunction with Flint Catholic Charities, including the North End Soup Kitchen.
So what is inside of these bags? Three snacks, toiletries, hand sanitizer, shampoo, soap, lotion, socks, gloves, change to make phone calls, Chapstick, hand warmers, and occasionally blankets. If you would like to donate any items, you can do so at Legends Bar & Grill in Fenton, Alpine Marketplace or Coney Cafe in Linden. You can also arrange a separate drop off through the Snuggle Sacks Facebook page.
It was a pleasure meeting Addy and I encourage all of you to donate if you can. As far as my break up, like I said - there are bigger problems!
