Make A Splash – Lapeer Polar Plunge To Benefit Special Olympics
This is a great opportunity to make a splash and raise money for a great cause.
It's almost time for the annual Lapeer Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics. If you are not familiar with this event, I have all of the information you need.
When is the Lapeer Polar Plunge?
Saturday, March 5th at 1:00 PM. All participating plungers need to register on the day of the event between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Where is the Lapeer Polar Plunge taking place?
The plunge happens at the Lapeer Center Building located at 425 County Center Street in Lapeer.
What exactly is a polar plunge?
Participants will be jumping into a pool of cold water. The plunge itself takes less than one minute to do. The fun of it is jumping as a group and in costume. Of course, the main goal is to raise money for Special Olympics. Participating plungers collect monetary pledges for jumping. Spectators are welcome to make donations at the event as well.
I went to the Lake Fenton Polar Plunge earlier this month and it was awesome. That particular plunge raised close to $95,000. Let's see if we can do just as good, if not better in Lapeer. If you have additional questions, please contact Tina Athanassopoulos at (810) 245-2188.
Additional Information
Awards will be given out after the plunge. Plan on sticking around for the After Plunge Party too. There will be raffles, food, and beverages available for purchase too. Here is to a great day of fun for a wonderful cause.
