Michigan Dad Said He’d Win The Lottery – Then Actually Did
A Van Buren County man's confidence paid off with a $5 million Michigan Lottery win.
The lucky winner, who wishes to remain nameless, reportedly told his family he was going to win, even before he purchased a Michigan Lottery ticket.
When he saw that the jackpot was $5 million, he said the following to his family,
That money is going to be mine!
I wonder if he has any insight for me?
According to the Michigan Lottery, the 43-year-old man hit six numbers playing Lotto 47 and won $5.46 million on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
The ticket was purchased at Speedway on South Westnedge Avenue in Kalamazoo.
As you can imagine, when he checked the winning numbers online, he could not believe he had won. In disbelief, he rechecked the numbers several times.
Realizing he had truly won, he burst out of the house with excitement.
Surprisingly enough, this particular winner chose to receive annual payments of roughly $182,000 over the next 30 years.
Most Michigan Lottery winners opt for a lump-sum payment. In this case, that would have been $3.7 million.
I don't know about you, but feeling lucky before playing the lottery has not yet paid off for me.
I've won $50 or $10 here and there on Michigan Lottery scratch-off tickets, but clearly, those aren't significant wins.
Other than scratch-off tickets, I usually only play Powerball or Mega Millions when the jackpots are huge. I may need to rethink that strategy.
You know what they say, you can't win if you don't play.
I have written countless posts about Michigan Lottery winners. Hopefully, one day, I'll write one about myself.
