Five decades after a baby boy was snatched from a Chicago hospital, a man living in rural Michigan has been identified as the baby who was abducted in 1964.

Federal investigators are not releasing much information about the case of Paul Joseph Fronczak, the name of baby that was kidnapped.

“Several years ago, the FBI reopened the investigation into the disappearance of Paul Joseph Fronczak," FBI spokesperson Siobhan Johnson told WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids. "Our investigation into this matter remains ongoing as we continue to pursue all leads. We ask for privacy for the victims as we continue to investigate the facts surrounding this case."

The story began in April of 1964 when a woman disguised as a nurse took a newborn from Dora Fronczak's room. Two years later a toddler presumed to be Paul Fronczak was located in New Jersey. Dora and her husband Chester Fronczak, happy to have their son back, raised the boy as their own.

But in 2012, the family took a home DNA test and discovered that there was no genetic connection between Fronczak and his parents.

Just days ago, on December 12, an investigative journalist in Nevada broke the news that a 55-year-old man in rural Michigan was the real Paul Fronczak.

According to WOOD-TV's report, the Michigan man is still processing the newly-discovered information and is not yet ready to go public.
