Middle Class in Michigan: A 2025 Reality Check
This is not good news for many Michigan residents.
It’s probably fair to say that many Michiganders feel underpaid, and this report just might back that up.
Visual Capitalist has put together a list of middle-class incomes in every state. A middle class income (in this instance) is defined as earning between two-thirds and twice the median household income.
This particular report states that lower-middle-class residents in Michigan have an average annual income of $46,000, while upper-middle-class residents make around $138,000 per year.
If your income falls between those two figures, you are generally considered part of the middle class.
Like I said, this may not be good news for some residents in the Great Lakes State. If you are curious about even more states, you can see the complete Visual Capitalist chart here.
Does this make you want to find a better-paying job, or perhaps start a side hustle?
Some of the most lucrative side hustles in 2025 include,
- Content Creating (YouTube, TikTok, Podcasting)
- Facebook Marketplace
- Freelance Writing
- Digital Work
- Rideshare and Delivery (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Pizza)
If nothing else works, there's always OnlyFans - just kidding (kind of). On a serious note, I hope this information didn’t bring you down. Here's to hoping you fall into the upper-middle class bracket.
