Michigan State Rep. Jewell Jones Facing Several Charges in Drunk Driving Incident

State Rep. Jewell Jones is in some serious heat and facing several charges following a collision/incident on I-96 in Fowlerville that took place on April 6.

We first heard about the incident on April 7th but we didn't have many details aside from the fact that Jones had been arrested following a crash along I-96 in Livingston County. At the time, police were keeping the incident quiet as they waited for more test results to come back. We eventually found he was involved in a drunk driving incident. Although he's facing more than just drunk driving charges.

According to WDIV, the Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office announced today that Jones has been charged with four counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer, operating a motor vehicle with high blood alcohol content, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, possession of a weapon under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.

I don't understand the difference between "operating a motor vehicle with a high blood alcohol content" and "operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated." To me, that sounds like the exact same charge.

He was also charged back in 2018 with open intoxicants in his car but that charge was eventually dismissed. He wasn't drunk when that happened.

Jones is currently serving his third term as a state lawmaker in the 11th District, which covers Inkster, Garden City and other portions of Wayne County. He was first elected back in 2016 when he was only 20 years old, making him the youngest ever representative elected to serve in the state House. He threw all of that away because of this incident.
