If you travel daily on U.S. 23  between Brighton and Ann Arbor you know just how insanely congested it can be. Well, that's about to change thanks to the "flex route."

According to WNEM, for the first time, Michigan will open special lanes on highway median shoulders to ease traffic congestion caused by rush hour or crashes. The median shoulder lanes will be opened and closed during peak periods using electronic message boards.

I didn't even know that this was something that was happening in other states but it sounds like it's a much cheaper way to go and it actually works.
