Brace Yourself: Farmers’ Almanac Predicts Michigan’s Winter 2025
It's January in Michigan, where the bitter cold has us wishing we were on a tropical island somewhere soaking in those warm rays. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Instead, day after day, we're enduring snow and bitter cold temps.
People always say, 'You're from Michigan, you should be used to it by now.' While that should be the case, the truth is, no matter how many winters we’ve survived, the cold never really gets any easier to handle.
At this point, all we can do is wait for things to get better. Okay, well, when is that going to happen? First things first, we’ve got to make it through whatever else Mother Nature throws our way over the next couple of months.
Technically, we're not even a full month into winter, so brace yourself—the ride isn't over yet. At least, according to the final predictions by the Farmers' Almanac.
Farmers' Almanac Prediction for the Rest of the Season
So, what does the popular publication predict? More cold temps, snow, freezing rain, and maybe even a blizzard? According to the Farmers' Almanac, we're in for a chilly, snow-filled winter, with periods of extreme cold and bursts of snowstorms. Freezing rain and icy conditions are also expected to make an appearance, adding to the already brutal winter mix.
The Farmers' Almanac predicts January temps around 27°F, with about 1.5 inches of snow—right on par for this time of year.
They also mention a slightly warmer-than-normal trend for Michigan overall, with below-average precipitation. The coldest stretch is expected to hit mid-January into early February. They're not wrong about that as the extended forecast is calling for temps in the teens starting on January 20th.
February in Michigan? Pretty much more of the same. Expect some snow, cold, and rapid-fire storms—rain mixed in with snow here and there. Temps will bounce around a bit, with some warmer days followed by more snow and cold. Classic Michigan winter, right? Let’s just hope it’s not too brutal."
At the end of the day, it’s winter in Michigan—it’s going to be cold. The real question is how many snowstorms we’ll have to deal with… hopefully none.
