Built in 1862, MI’s Oldest Brewery Still Serves Cold Beer Today

For over 150 years, this Michigan Brewery has been brewing up the goodness.

What's now known as Frankenmuth Brewery, is Michigan's oldest brewery still in operation today. Originally built in 1862, this brewery has been through a number of changes in its history.

It was first built by Martin Heubisch and Wilhelm Knaust. Then the brewery was purchased by John G. Geyer and renamed Geyer Bros. Brewing Company in 1874. Many years later, it was purchased out of bankruptcy and renamed yet again Frankenmuth Brewery in 1987.

As Michigan's oldest craft brewery, Frankenmuth Brewery is open seven days a week. Craft beer fans can enjoy a number of year-round, seasonal, and limited-release brews right in downtown Frankenmuth. Not only do they have amazing beers, but they also have amazing food in the restaurant, and event space for parties and weddings.

• Little Bavaria Pilsener (ABV 5.25%)
• Siamese Goat Doppelbock (ABV 7.8%)

If you haven't had a chance to check this place out, do it, you won't be disappointed. I have actually been there a number of times for weddings. The food is always amazing, the beer is great, and the setting right on the river is perfect. Check it out for yourself.
