My ongoing countdown of what to expect in 2011 continues with two of my favorite bands.  My choice for #4  will hopefully be a much needed breath of  fresh air after a year of cookie-cutter rock. Read after the jump for more on the upcoming projects from Josh Homme & Co.

#4.Queens of the Stone Age / Them Crooked Vultures: In the next year we will see albums from one if not both of Josh Homme's bands. QOTSA is re-releasing their self-titled debut album (which has been out of print for some time) and also working on material for a new album due next year. Josh said to expect the new Queens' record to take you further down the road that the bands previous effort "Era Vulgaris" started you on. Homme is not included in the upcoming  reunion of his former band Kyuss as of yet, but who knows what could happen in the next few months.

TCV bassist (and living legend) John Paul Jones also said that Them Crooked Vultures have almost a whole album written and it just needs to be recorded. Most of the material came from songs still being completed when they released their debut, while some were written on the their tour. Josh had said previously that he, JPJ, and Dave Grohl could've spent more time recording other songs but released the album just to make sure it would actually happen. It's not every day you get to make music with a member of Led Zeppelin. With an albums worth of songs ready to go, it's just a matter of the busy trio finding time to record them. Check out this (as of yet) unreleased track from Them Crooked Vultures.
