Disney Officially Announces ‘Obi-Wan’ Disney+ Series
Can you feel it? There has been an awakening.
It was rumored recently, but now it’s confirmed, thanks to the Disney+ panel at D23 Expo 2019. Ewan McGregor is returning to the Star Wars universe for the first time in years to play Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new TV series for Disney’s upcoming streaming service.
The news was made at the end of the Disney+ panel at D23. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy invited Ewan McGregor out on stage, who gleefully asked Kennedy to ask him if he’d be playing Obi-Wan Kenobi again. She did, and after a dramatic pause, he said yes. McGregor said he was delighted to finally be able to announce the news after years of rumors and questions.
Kennedy said the scripts for the show are mostly written and they are expecting to shoot the show in 2020. So expect it soon on Disney+, which launches on November 12.
