Open Burn Permits Suspended in Michigan
On top of everything else we're dealing with, now we can't even get an open burn permit in the state of Michigan thanks to Covid-19.
Dan Laux, fire supervisor for the DNR Forest Resources Division said: “We need to make sure our emergency response resources are available where they are needed at this time. Less open burning means less potential for escaped fires, and that means staff can deal with other, more critical needs.”
According to Mid-Michigan Now, open burning may still be allowed in areas of the state where the ground is still snow-covered.
While being forced to be at home, a lot of people have been spending time outdoors burning leaves and branches. Looks like outdoor cleanup projects will now have to be put on hold as well.
