The thought of 13,500 kids in Michigan not having a home to go to every day is absolutely heartbreaking. There are 6,000 homes prepared to take in children but obviously, that's not even close to being enough.

According to NBC25, children go into the foster program for several reasons, the most common reason listed as abuse and neglect. Foster care is usually a temporary solution for kids until it is safe for a child to return home. In some cases, parents who provide foster care are asked to take on a permanent role and take in a child permanently.

If my life wasn't so insanely busy this would be something I would love to consider. There would be nothing more fulfilling in life than being able to help a child in need, even if it was just temporary. I hate knowing there are kids out there being neglected and abused on a daily basis. If things in my life ever slow down, I would love to be able to do this.

May is foster care awareness month so seriously take some time and think if whether or not this is something for you.
