Philip Anselmo reveals that the "darkest, heaviest" material he's ever recorded has yet to be released in a new interview with The Scream Queen's Damnation Vault. In fact, the former Pantera vocalist says he's not sure if the music from En Minor, the goth-influenced project he unveiled two years ago, will ever see the light of day.

When asked for his estimation of the "most raw, real, honest" song he's ever written — whether with Pantera or his various other outfits such as Superjoint Ritual or the Illegals — Anselmo says the most menacing of the lot isn't even available.

"I will say that the darkest, heaviest, most miserable shit I've ever written I have not released and that's a band called En Minor," Anselmo offers. "I've never put it out, man. And I still...I don't know if I'm getting cold feet or not, man. It's not party music, it's not good time music."

Further, while differentiating that his vocals in En Minor are performed in a "completely bass" style, the musician hints at some seemingly solid performances on the buried album.

"It is, I guess, the truest, darkest record I’ve ever done in my life and I'm just not sure about it," he adds. "I'm not sure about it. I think the musicianship is great, I love the band I have surrounding me."

In 2017, Anselmo first revealed his intentions to release the En Minor album, telling The Jimmy Cabbs 5150 YouTube Show about the artists that inspired the project.

"I guess it would be my, 'Hello, great dark '80s of Sisters of Mercy, of The Cure's Seventeen Seconds record and Faith album," he said at the time. "Early The Cure. Early U2. Nick Cave and the fucking Bad Seeds or The Birthday Party. David Bowie… I take all these influences and then somehow we came out with results."
