$50K in Pokémon Cards Stolen from Michigan Shop—Owner Offers $15K Reward
I'll be honest, I don’t know all that much about Pokémon cards aside from buying a few packs for my kid when he was little. So I was a bit surprised when I saw just how much some of them are worth.
We’re talking thousands of dollars for certain cards, especially the rare vintage stuff from the '90s. And unfortunately, that kind of value can attract some of the biggest lowlifes Michigan has to offer, just like what happened recently at a Michigan card shop.
Alright, so here’s what happened.
According to WDIV, just after midnight on July 30, the owner of First Edition Finds, a Michigan shop dedicated to collectibles, got a phone alert. Someone had smashed through the front window of his store.
The surveillance video (below) shows a guy carrying a shopping bag, casually smashing his way through display cases and grabbing stacks of Pokémon cards. And not just random ones either. He went straight for the good stuff. The rare, vintage, mint-condition kind you’re not finding at Target.
It was really obvious that this dude knew exactly where to go and what to grab. Oh yeah, he was there with only one mission. Get the most valuable Pokémon cards he could and get out.
We’re talking first editions, base sets, and cards that were more than 20 years old. Some of them were worth thousands each.

The cards stolen were worth around $50,000, and most of them weren’t just inventory; they were personal. Stuff the owner pulled as a kid, and even with his daughter.
He and his wife spent months building their new shop from the ground up, and now they’re offering a $15,000 reward for any info that helps catch the thief.
