Popular Horror Movies That Were Filmed in Michigan
Despite its abbreviated history in the film-making world, Michigan has been the backdrop for several horror titles you'll definitely recognize -- see the list here.
Michigan wasn't really a filming hotspot for Hollywood until 2008 when we started offering lucrative tax incentives for filmmakers. The Mitten has more than doubled the amount of productions filmed here since including multi-million dollar movies like 'Oz: The Great and Powerful,' 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' and the yet-to-be-released mega-blockbuster 'Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice' (co-starring yours truly).
Michigan's beautiful lakes and bountiful forests seem like a no-brainer for a horror set, particularly slasher flicks like 'Friday the 13th.' Surprisingly though, we don't have a ton of recognizable horror titles under our belt. There are a few impressive ones though and we've listed them below for you.
