School District, Restaurants, and Fire Dept. Fined for COVID Violations
Several more businesses throughout Michigan have been fined for COVID-19 violations.
More businesses throughout Michigan are getting hit with fines for COVID-19 safety violations. In the latest round, businesses in Davison, Lapeer, Memphis, Roseville, Saginaw, Livonia, Canton, and St. Clair Shores have been cited by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration for unsafe working conditions.
These businesses are just the latest as the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has also issued 20 fines and 32 liquor licenses have been suspended for COVID-19 related reasons. Of these eight fines, seven of these inspections happened after an employee complaint. The businesses are as follows:
- Memphis Fire Department - $2,100 fine
- Not developing an infectious disease preparedness and response plan
- Not providing COVID-19 training
- Not conducting daily health checks
- Not ensuring employees wore face coverings
- At Home Store in Roseville - $7,000 fine
- Not developing an infectious disease preparedness and response plan
- Not conducting daily health checks
- Autozone in Davison - $4,000 fine
- Not developing an infectious disease preparedness and response plan
- Not ensuring employees wore face coverings
- Not requiring employees to social distance
- Daner's Diner in Lapeer - $1,900 fine
- Not developing an infectious disease preparedness and response plan
- Not providing COVID-19 training
- Not increasing cleaning and disinfection to limit exposure
- Not establishing procedures for disinfecting the worksite when it is suspect or confirmed that an employee or customer has a known case of COVID-19
- Not conducting daily health checks
- Not posting safety precaution signage

- Kokomos Family Fun Center in Saginaw - $2,000 fine
- Not developing an infectious disease preparedness and response plan
- Not requiring employees to wear face coverings
- Not requiring employees to social distance
- Not posting safety precaution signage for non-English speakers
- Painters Supply and Equipment Co. in Canton - $3,500 fine
- Not requiring employees to wear face coverings
- Not requiring employees to social distance
- South Lake Public Schools in St. Clair Shores - $9,800 fine
- Not developing an infectious disease preparedness and response plan
- Not providing COVID-19 training
- Not conducting daily health checks
- Not having a written hazard communication program developed, implemented, and maintained
- Twin Peaks in Livonia - $0 fine
- Violation corrected during the inspection
