2025 started off a little rocky with countless store and restaurant closures. While we don't see that changing anytime soon, it is nice to see that some new businesses are popping up here and there as others announce major expansions.

For example, we recently told you that the old-school burger franchise Hot 'n Now was looking to make a comeback in 2025 with two new locations and possibly more in the future.

According to Trade & Industry Development, another major expansion announcement comes from Shake Shack, the popular burger chain that plans to open 80 new locations in 2025. That’s a small number compared to its overall goal of opening roughly 1,200 more locations, but it’s still a pretty big deal.

The company currently has 329 locations in the U.S., but if all goes according to plan, they’ll be adding around 1,200 more to reach their goal of 1,500 locations in the coming years.

I've never been to Shake Shack, but I’m well aware of what they have to offer. Shake Shack’s all about keeping it simple—juicy, 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers (that's important to me), crispy crinkle-cut fries, and rich, creamy shakes that make me want to drive to the nearest location every time I see a photo of one.

Shake Shack operates eight locations in Michigan:

  • Detroit
  • Troy (Big Beaver Road)
  • Troy (Somerset Collection)
  • Ann Arbor
  • Novi
  • Rochester Hills
  • Sterling Heights
  • Livonia

Will we see more Shake Shacks popping up in Michigan in the future? As of right now, it’s unclear, but with plans to open 1,200 more locations in the coming years, I’d say it’s more than likely.
