It's basically tradition here in Michigan. It's one of those things that signifies that spring is near and summer is just around the corner. We're talking about Oberon Day.

Bell's Brewery will once again release Oberon for the spring and summer at midnight on Monday, March 23. That means Monday, March 22 is Oberon Day, kicking off the return of the popular wheat ale being once again in stores around Michigan.

Oberon will start leaving distributor warehouses on March 18 and Bell’s will raise a pint to celebrate the unofficial holiday on March 22 from Oberon Headquarters aka Bell’s Eccentric Cafe.

Because this past year has been so tough and the fact Bell's, based in Comstock, had to cancel Oberon Day last year due to COVID-19 pandemic, Bell's is allowing distributors and retailers to begin selling Oberon Ale as soon as they received it.

Although some of the celebrations will be in person (with COVID-19 safety precautions in place), Bell’s is also planning on celebrating virtually with a special live broadcast from its pub, the Eccentric Cafe. “Wake Up with Oberon!” will be from noon until 1 p.m. on March 22. There will be quite a few surprises for those who tune in, including a special Oberon toast from Larry Bell.

Oberon is available through September in cans, bottles and on draft where Bell's products are sold. If you're lucky enough to be in  Florida and Arizona, Oberon is  available year-round.

Oberon was first brewed in 1992. Back then it was called Sol Sun, until 1997 when the name change occurred.
