Walmart to Start Mandatory One-Way Aisles to Stem The Spread of COVID-19
Starting today Walmart is creating one-way aisles in their stores to help stem the spread of the coronavirus. It kind of feels a little late in the game if you ask me, but then again, I guess it's better late than never.
Here's a statement Walmart made on their Facebook page:
Beginning April 23rd our facility will be going to One-way Aisles. One-way aisles are designed to increase social distancing and give customers more space on each aisle. There will be floor decals in place to help indicate the direct traffic flow. You will find green “Shop This Way” decals indicating the entrances of each aisle. You will find red “Do Not Shop This Way” decals to tell opposing traffic not to enter the aisle.
I've yet to make a trip to Walmart since this whole pandemic began but I have to assume their decision to do this is because people can't keep their distance from one another. Every time I drive by the Walmart in Grand Blanc it always looks busy as hell. I'd have to imagine it's been a bit crap show inside.
According to the New York Post, Walmart had been testing the one-way aisles in some of its stores in recent weeks, but on Thursday said all of its stores would sport the new decals nationwide.
