What Kind of Liquor is in a ‘Jackson 5′ Shot?
You've heard of a "Three Wise Men," and a "Four Horsemen," now get ready for an even more grotesque, liver-busting shot called a "Jackson 5." Find out what kind of liquor is in this shot and why you'll probably never order one here.
My girlfriend is a bartender, so whenever there is some weird new shot or drink being ordered -- I usually hear about it. The latest new alcoholic beverage she told me about was a shot called a "Jackson 5," obviously named after the titular Motown group featuring Michael, Tito, Jermaine and whoever the other two are. Much like their father did to them back in the day, this shot will kick the s--- out of you!
This one is in the tradition of the "Three Wise Men" (Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Jose Cuervo) and "Four Horsemen," (Jim, Jack, Jose and Johnnie) but adds the ultimate a-hole of liquors to the equation. You guessed it -- Jagermeister. So in summation, here are the ingredients to a "Jackson 5":
- Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- Jack Daniels Tenessee Whiskey
- Jose Cuervo Tequila
- Johnnie Walker Blended Scotch Whiskey (Red or Black)
- Jagermeister
Obviously, there are different versions of all of these recipes depending on what area you're from.
There are some drinks out there that are solely designed to ruin your night (or at least the next morning), you can add this one to the list. I have yet to try a "Jackson 5," but on my 21st birthday I chased a shot of Tequila with Jagermeister. Let's just say that those two don't play well with each other and, unfortunately, the bathroom at this particular establishment was upstairs. Yes, I painted the stairwell with vomit.
