See a Brutal Pothole in Michigan? Here’s Who to Report It To
Technically, we’re never really out of pothole season in Michigan. But once things start to thaw out, they get noticeably worse. Way worse. What were once small cracks turn into tire-swallowing craters, and at times, they’re downright brutal.
If you spot one that could potentially cause damage, you should report it. The tricky part is knowing who to report it to, because in Michigan, that depends entirely on what road you’re driving on.

Who Do You Report Potholes on State Roads To?
If you see a nasty pothole on an interstate, US route, or M route like I-75, US-23, or M-21, it’s handled by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
You can report it using MDOT’s online pothole form.
There’s also a voicemail line at 888-296-4546.
Who Do You Report Potholes on City Streets or County Roads To?
If the pothole is not on an I, M, or US route, it’s considered a local road.

A lot of people don’t bother reporting potholes because they assume nothing will happen. But if nobody reports them at all, nothing definitely happens.
