Police were finally able to process and clear the scene at about 1 AM this morning.
A Saturday afternoon shooting at the Speedway on the corner of Center and Bristol Roads has left the community shaken and looking for answers.
At about 3:15 PM, police responded to reports of a shooting at the gas station. We don't have much information at this time; what we do know is that one person was pronounced dead at the scene and a second was taken to Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. His injuries are not life-threatening, according to the police and MLive.
Social media was flooded with posts from concerned citizens after somebody posted that there were shootings at Dort and Eldon Baker Dr. and at Hemphill and Camden. People were worried that there was a random shooter on the loose.
At about 1:15 this morning, Burton Police Chief Brian Ross posted the following message on the Burton City Chat Facebook page:
We have just cleared the scene. I can not release details of the shootings. I can tell you that these were not random shootings. There is not someone going around shooting random people.
In the event that the general public is in danger, a reverse 911 message will be sent out to everyone in the area. This was not the case.
While I do want to be able to share information, the details are sensitive to our investigation and can not be released. As the case moves forward, I will share what I can.
