This has been a long time coming and now it seems that the band may actually be recording. This would no doubt be my #1 on the list for 2011 if it were confirmed by the band, but it’s just not that simple.

The Life and Times of Tim: This lesser known gem has received very little promotion from HBO in it’s two season run, but don’t let that deter you from enjoying it. In fact they announced it’s cancellation over the summer. After the HBO execs saw how much interest other cable networks like FX and Comedy Central had in the show, they changed their minds. In August they officially green lit the show for it’s third season.

Rescue Me: If you’ve never seen this show do me (and yourself) a favor and start catching up now. I believe a good number of seasons’ past are available on Netflix instant queue so that should make it fairly easy. The show highlights the struggles of New York firefighters in the wake of 9/11 and their damaged personal lives with the spotlight on a firefighting hero/womanizing alcoholic, Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary).

Torres and his partner, Hope Howell filmed the act in the morning thinking no one would be disturbed and no public nudity complaints would be filed. That being said, Torres posted the video on his blog. So basically they did not want to be arrested, they could care less if people see them. The guy is a porn star for crying out loud. Ms. Howell however is not, she is the receptionist at Skydive Taft where the two work.

Incubus: The band has spent over a year on hiatus, in that time singer Brandon Boyd went to art school and quietly released a solo album, guitarist Mike Eizinger played with an orchestra, and drummer Jose Pasillas spent time enjoying fatherhood. The band headed back to work on writing and recording the next album which they have planned for a 2011 release. Their last album “Light Grenades” debuted at #1 on the charts and went on to become certified gold.

It appears that Scarlett Johansson was a victim of a cell phone hacker ring — which may explain why nude photos were leaked to the internet today. 26-six-year old Johansson contacted the FBI to help figure out how the photos got leaked to the web.

Chevelle’s still-unnamed new album will be the follow up to 2009′s ‘Sci-Fi Crimes’, and the Chicago-based power trio’s fifth full-length studio outing. If the new single (set to hit radio next week) ‘Face to the Floor’ is any indication of what’s to come, the band will hearken back to their earlier material, ala 2002′s ‘Wonder What’s Next’.

Since we are officially past the halfway marker of 2011, we figured it was the perfect time to count back the best rock songs of 2011. This has already been a huge year for rock, and there are still major releases from bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Theory of a Deadman, and more to come. Before we get to those, let's look at 2011 best rock songs so far.

Red Hot Chili Peppers: Their last album “Stadium Arcadium” was probably one of the best I’ve bought in the past 5 years. It’s rare that you buy a double disc album and only find a couple of songs you DON’T love. It was the perfect marraige of their early funk and “Californication” ballad style song writing. While it’s no “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”, still a damn fine record.
