Have you ever heard the tale of the deadly Michigan snow snake? There have been reports of a venomous breed of viper scouring the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan that has killed at least three people with a bite that freezes blood.

Of course, as a recent article published in Planet Save points out, there is absolutely no evidence of a snake that flourishes in cold climates that also has venom capable of freezing blood. Although, if you have ever seen what venom does to human blood once it makes contact (see above video) you can see how the term “freeze” comes into play.

Scientifically speaking, all snakes are cold-blooded and do not enjoy cold weather. Even the snakes that live in areas where cold weather is prevalent, these beasts typically hibernate during cold months.

The closest possible explanation for the snow snake rumor is an albino, but these serpents would not venture out into the snow. Sorry, folks, but the snow snake scare is a hoax.
