What is this world coming to when you can't even safely take your kids to get cookies at the mall?

According to Fox 2 Detroit, the 10-year-old girl was at Mrs. Fields' cookie shop at Somerset Mall. She was with some friends and her guardian simply waiting to get some cookies when out of nowhere a woman slammed her head (face first) into the glass cookie display.

The young girl wasn't being rowdy or causing any problems whatsoever. She was just waiting to get her cookies.

According to reports, the woman laughed after smashing the young girl's head into the display and then walked away. It's as if she thought the whole thing was nothing more than a big joke.

The guardian quickly reported the incident to mall security, who, upon reviewing the surveillance footage, verified the accuracy of their account.

Did Security Find and Arrest the Attacker?

The following day, 25-year-old Reanna Valentine of Detroit returned to the mall and was spotted by security. The police were called and Valentine was arrested.

The woman has been charged with a misdemeanor for simple assault. While she was released on personal bond, it's worth mentioning that the judge, in an unusual move for this charge, required her to wear a tether.
