Body Believed to Be Missing GVSU Student Brendan Santo Found in Lansing River
Michigan State University Police say they have recovered a body from the Red Cedar River believed to be missing teen, Brendan Santo.
The 18-year-old Grand Valley State University student had been missing since late October, when he went to visit friends and Michigan State University in East Lansing. He was last seen leaving MSU’s Yakeley Hall on foot before midnight Oct. 29, 2021.
MSU Police, Michigan State Police, and the FBI were all involved in the search for Brendan, who is originally from Rochester, Mich.
According to a release from MSU Police, the body was recovered at 12:30p.m. Friday, approximately 1.5 miles downriver of where Brendan was last seen.
Formal identification of the body is still pending.
MSU Police say,
The Santo family has been informed and we are providing them with as much information and support as possible during this difficult time. We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to the Santo family and all those who knew Brendan.
It is not believed that foul play was involved or that Brendan intended to harm himself.
