Byron Basketball Team Honors Teammate Suffering From Neurological Disorder [VIDEO]

Some say kids are mean, but that's not necessarily always the case. The 8th grade girls basketball team from Byron proved this Monday night.

Abby Thomas was diagnosed with a disease called Rett Syndrome when she was just 7 years old. Rett Syndrome is a neurological disorder that causes many girls to lose the ability to walk, talk and feed themselves according to ABC 12. Not only was the gym a sea of purple Monday night, but there was a fundraiser which raised almost $900 for Rett Syndrome research. Byron won the game that night and Abby made the first basket!
