If you’ve ever wondered how not to handle a court appearance, this is the perfect example.

A Michigan woman jumped into her Zoom court hearing late, and yeah…she was in a car. Like, clearly in a moving vehicle while talking to the judge. It looked pretty obvious she was driving, but that’s not what she told him.

Can You Join a Court Zoom Call While Driving?

No…and the judge made that very clear right away.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, as soon as she popped on screen, he told her you can’t be driving during a court appearance. And without missing a beat, she said she wasn’t driving.

Am I crazy, or does it not look like you're driving that car?

As soon as she popped on screen, he told her she couldn’t be driving during a court appearance. And without missing a beat, she said she wasn’t driving…that someone else was behind the wheel. Yeah…okay.

That’s where things started to fall apart.

Because the camera was showing her sitting on the left side of the car, seatbelt coming across exactly like a driver, and the judge is just staring at the screen, trying to make sense of it. He asks what side she’s on, she says the left, and now he’s really not buying it.

How would you be on the left-hand side if you're a passenger in the front seat? Am I missing something?

Judge Asks to See the Driver…Then It Gets Awkward

You can tell the judge is done at this point, but he gives her one more shot and asks to see the driver. The look on her face at that moment…priceless.

She says she needs the driver’s permission to be on camera…which doesn’t exactly help her case.

Then she hops out of the car. Yeah, that pretty much sealed it.

The judge calls her out for lying, ends the hearing, and that’s that. And somehow, she still tries to get the last word in on the way out.

Honestly, you almost have to respect the commitment to the story. No matter how ridiculous she was making herself look, she stuck to it.
